17th Global ELOY Conference: Speaker Spotlight: Edememe Oladiji-Wusu — Founder, Semper Discens Limited
At the 17th Global ELOY Conference themed Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges, we continue to celebrate women who are using their voice, influence, and expertise to create lasting impact. One of the powerful voices joining us this year is Edememe Oladiji-Wusu an inspiring leadership strategist, coach, and founder of Semper Discens Limited — a Strategy and HR Consulting firm committed to helping organisations strengthen performance through people, purpose, and clarity.
With over 15 years of distinguished experience at KPMG where she rose to Associate Director, she now dedicates her work to developing high-performing teams and empowering women to step into leadership with confidence and conviction. Through her signature “Bloom, Lady, Bloom” workshops, she equips women to own their brilliance, find their voice, and lead with influence.

In this exclusive interview, she reflects on her leadership journey, the power of collaboration, and why visibility is a woman’s greatest asset in today’s business landscape.
Her message is clear: when women rise, entire communities rise with them.
- Personal Journey Inspiration
EM: What inspired your journey into leadership, and how has your story shaped the work you do today?
Edememe:
My darling parents, Florence and Peter Adene, inspired my journey into leadership. They raised my siblings and me to be like JESUS to influence, uplift, and make an impact wherever we find ourselves.
So wherever I go, I ask myself: “How can I be the salt of the earth and the light of the world here?” – and I show up that way.
That mindset taught me early that leadership is not about titles – it is about inffuence, impact, and responsibility. I led long before I held a leadership position, and that shaped how I see work, people, and purpose. People eventually recognise authentic leadership and reward it.
That belief in servant leadership and transformation continues to drive everything I doAfter over 15 incredible years at KPMG, where I rose to the position of Associate Director, I founded Semper Discens Limited, a Strategy and HR Consulting firm built on the conviction that true organisational success begins with people and purpose. We help companies clarify their strategy, strengthen execution, and build engaged, high- performing teams.
And because I’ve seen how confidence and self-awareness transform lives, I also coach women to rise in purpose, power, and professional influence, helping them find their voice, own their strength, and lead with clarity – through my Signature “Bloom, Lady, Bloom” Workshops.
In essence, my story shaped my life and work by grounding it in one timeless truth: leadership is influence, and true influence begins with self-awareness and service.
- Breaking Barrier
EM: The theme of the 17th Global ELOY Conference is Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers. Can you share one barrier you had to overcome in your work, and how you did it?
Edememe:
One barrier I had to overcome was seeing my peers as competition. Early in my career, I believed I had to “stand out” by standing alone. That mindset made it difficult to build genuine relationships, learn from others, and give and receive support.
Everything shifted the day I reached out to a colleague for help with a task I found challenging. Her insights completely transformed my work and opened my eyes to the power of collaboration (thank you, Aminat Jegede ●-•). That experience taught me that when women work with each other, we all win.
The theme “Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers” deeply resonates with me because I’ve lived it. We, as women, must continue to see one another as allies, not adversaries; as collaborators, not competitors. Together, we can break the invisible walls of competition and create stronger bridges of connection, collaboration, and collective success. The only competition you have is you!
- Industry Impact
EM: In your opinion, what is the biggest opportunity for women in your industry today and how can they position themselves to take advantage of it?
Edememe:
The biggest opportunity for women today is visibility rooted in value – showing up confidently, bringing their unique perspective to the table, and letting their competence be seen and heard.
In consulting, and indeed across industries, organizations are increasingly recognizing the importance of diverse voices in shaping strategy and driving transformation. This is a defining moment for women to move beyond doing excellent work quietly and start communicating their impact intentionally.
Women often wait to be noticed, but in today’s world, visibility is not vanity – it’s strategy. The more you’re seen for your value, the more opportunities you attract.
To take advantage of this, women must first own their expertise, build confidence in their voice, and be deliberate about presence – in meetings, projects, and platforms. And we, at Semper Discens Limited, help women achieve this. Excellence will open doors, but visibility will keep them open.
That’s part of why I do the work I do – helping women grow in purpose, power, and professional influence. Because when women rise with confidence and clarity, organisations, industries, and entire communities rise with them.
- Visibility Influence
EM: Visibility is a powerful currency in today’s world. How has visibility impacted your career business, and what advice would you give women who want to be seen and heard?
Edememe:
Visibility has been a defining factor in my growthboth personally and professionally. For a long time, I believed that excellence alone would speak for me. And while excellence is non-negotiable, I’ve learned that if no one knows about the great work you’re doing, you are as good as winking in the dark. The moment I began to show up intentionally online and offline – sharing my insights, moderating conversations, and speaking about my work – everything changed.
A lot of business opportunities now come to me and to Semper Discens because we are visible and have built a brand rooted in excellence, authenticity, and transformation. People reach out because they already have a sense of who I am, what I stand for, and the value I bring.
To every woman who wants to be seen and heard, know that visibility isn’t vanity – it’s your survival kit in today’s world. Invisibility is as limiting as incompetence. “I’m more comfortable behind the scenes” will no longer cut it in this age of influence.
Let people see you and your good work. Share your journey, your lessons, and your expertise online and offline. Speak up in meetings. Contribute on platforms that align with your purpose.
People can only recognize what they can see. So, be intentional about positioning yourself to be seen – not for the applause, but because the assignment God has placed in your hands demands it of you.
- Future Vision
EM: If you could leave the audience with one call to action about building bridges and breaking barriers, what would it be?
Edememe:
If I could leave the audience with one call to action, it would be this: build bridges intentionally. When women support women, we all rise.
Every woman you meet is a potential bridge to your next level and you can be a potential bridge to another woman’s next level. Don’t let comparison or competition win. Be the woman who opens doors, makes introductions, and cheers loudly for others. That’s how we truly build bridges and break barriers – not just for ourselves, but for the generations coming after us.
